my sad story

this week is the week of derby days: the sigma chi fraternity (the cool one on greek row) has lots of events throughout the week that for some reason all start with the word derby.. there was derby dinner, derby jams, derby something else, derby darling, and whatever else you can think of starting with the word derby. at the end of the week they hold a dance which supposedly they all find dates to on monday night (last night) so monday is called meat market monday. i was told to go to the sig house, walk in, and i would get a date to that dance no problem. but nobody talked to me and i felt lame and just ended up going home. oh well.

election day!

I voted! First time in my life! I left a lot of the little boxes blank because I had no idea whether or not I wanted those certain judges to remain in office, but I voted nonetheless. I am an american, and many lives were given so that I can vote, so I did. The founders of our nation created a democratic republic. They truly believed in popular sovereignty, and one of the easiest (and only) ways I can express my opinion and put that power to use is voting. Now you have heard my little deal on why voting is important. If you didn't vote, that's sad.

Have you any wool?

Every year on the monday meeting before Halloween, the Xi Alpha chapter of Chi Omega (my chapter) dresses up in our coordinating costumes. The actives pick a theme, and they each choose their costumes accordingly. The pledge trainer is always a certain something with all of the pledges being forced to coordinate with her- it is usually a stupid and embarrassing costume. This year the overall theme was nursery rhymes: our pledge trainer was little bo peep and we all had to be sheep. It actually ended up being pretty funny.
some of my favorite costumes were:
  • jack and the beanstalk(the beanstalk was a hulk costume with leaves hot glued all over it)
  • three blind mice- white and red canes and all
  • little kittens that lost their mittens
  • red riding hood, big bad wolf, and grandma with a walker

New Car!

I just got a new car. Well I guess it is technically a used car, but its new for me! The 4 runner was starting to make some funny noises, and always smelled funny since Mike drove it, so my mother decided it was time. It is a 2007 Toyota camry. I'm pretty excited about it.

Abercrombie and Fitch

I currently work at A&F at the Gateway. It is probably the coolest and easiest job I have ever had. I just stand around and fold clothes all day. The only time it gets a little tricky is when someone comes into the store I am required to say "hey, what's going on" not " how's it going" or "what's up" but "hey, what's going on." I rehearse it everyday in front of my bathroom mirror.

Chi Omega!

After a long, rough week of recruitment, I am officially a Chi Omega! I never thought I would say it is tiring to talk a lot, but I was so ready for the week to be over and just know which sorority I would become a part of. I definitely think I chose wisely- I am already having so much fun with the girls, and am so excited to initiate and truly become part of the sorority!
